3. CREATE YOUR OWN SPACE
What was once a walk-in-closet is now turned into a cozy meditation area. This space is referred to “The Zen Garden” (pictures above and below). Keeping the meditation area minimal and clean helps de-clutter your mind. Meditation chimes can be helpful for maintaining focus. Battery operated candles are a nice, safe way to enjoy candlelight. Discover a few things that make you calm and put it in there.
Set aside 10 minutes a day (or whatever you can give) to get into the habit of taking time for yourself. Meditate on things you want to happen and create a space for positive thinking only. It can do wonders for your health if you make preventative mental health a priority.

Bike riding can be very therapeutic and freeing. Go on a bike ride, put on some inspiring tunes, and take an hour out of the day just for you!
Find a trail near you and get familiar with it. Create several playlists to keep things fresh and exciting. Enjoy the scenery, watch the birds fly so freely, breathe in the air, feel the wind against your face, and the warmth of the sun on your skin. Discover other types of exercise that give you time to think and also allows you to live in the present.
5. SPEND TIME IN NATURE
Hiking, walking, running, exploring, or just simply going to your local park are the many ways to get out in nature and just live in the moment. Find a big, beautiful tree and sit/lay underneath it. There’s something about nature that is really peaceful and settling.
Strive to be the best version of yourself so you can help others do the same. Improve your cardiovascular health, while admiring the great beauty that is Earth. Discover a good hiking trail or a beautiful forest preserve to escape the everyday stresses and take it all in. You deserve to take time for yourself and just be.
6. DISCOVER GUIDED MEDITATION
Go to YouTube and search for “Daily Guided Meditation”. This is a great way to jump start your daily meditation practice. There you will find many guided meditation videos to help calm and center yourself. Daily guided meditation helps direct your thoughts in a more positive direction.
Make it a habit to wake up 10 minutes earlier and start your day off with intention, reflection, and purpose. Do a mid-day meditation. Tailor daily meditation to fit your lifestyle. Meditate when you can and how you want to!
